Shazam 2 cameo in Black Adam was turned down by Dwayne Johnson.

Dwayne Johnson does not consider Zachary Levi's Shazam to be in the same league as Black Adam, and this has come up again in the aftermath of Shazam! The poor box office performance of Fury of the Gods. According to the latest report, the reason for the Shazam sequel's post-credits scene essentially being about the Justice Society without actually featuring any of the main players from Black Adam's superhero team is because Johnson made it his goal to keep the two characters permanently separate.

As reported by The Wrap, Johnson vetoed plans for Zachary Levi's Shazam to appear in the Black Adam post-credits scene.

Although there is no doubt that Dwayne Johnson's desire to become a focal point of the DCU has left a bad taste in the final stage of the old DC franchise of Shazam! The Gods' Fury. The film's audience reviews have been positive, and word of mouth should be driving people to the theaters to see it. So, and why hasn't that happened?

It "would have seen Shazam recruited into the Justice Society of America by Aldis Hodge's Hawkman and other costumed heroes," according to the outlet.

There appears to be no promise of another Shazam film in the near future, and general audiences are very picky about what they invest their time in when it comes to movies.

"But as soon as I read that, I knew in my gut, 'We can't make this movie like this.'" We would be doing Black Adam an enormous disservice.' Having two origin stories converge in one film would have been fine for Shazam, but not for Black Adam."

The Rock was also reportedly offered a cameo in Shazam 2; surprise, surprise, he declined. With The Flash quickly approaching and James Gunn's rebooted DC Universe on the horizon, it appears the power structure has shifted - but not for Johnson.
