Eiichiro Oda Provides an Important Update on the One Piece Live-Action Series

Netflix has released an update for the Hollywood adaptation of Eiichiro Oda's One Piece manga. The statement is from original creator Oda, who now serves as an executive producer. Oda confirms that the program will still premiere in 2023.

Fans of One Piece who are looking forward to Netflix's live-action version of the popular manga and anime may rejoice! One Piece author Eiichiro Oda is celebrating Luffy's birthday with an update that will make you happy. After seven long years since Netflix originally announced its live-action One Piece series, the production is nearly finished!

Netflix published the first photographs of its long-awaited One Piece live-action series months ago, stating that the series will premiere this year. And, while it appears that everything is going well for the show, which is based on Eiichiro Oda's manga of the same name, the creator revealed some important information about this project.

The series' final stages of development have been revealed by Oda in a letter made public online but he insisted that it won't air until he is 100 percent happy with the adaptation's outcome.

The show was previously scheduled to premiere in 2023, but Oda said, "they've promised that we won't launch it until I'm satisfied". Despite this, Oda is optimistic about the series, saying the teams working on it have "been hard at work this entire time".


One Piece Live Action Cast includes:

Laki Godoy plays Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji in One Piece. Celeste Loots, Alexander Maniatis, McKinley Belcher III, Craig Fairbrass, Steven Ward, and Chioma Umeala also appear, as do Vincent Regan, Ilia Isorels Paulino, Morgan Davies, Aidan Scott, Langley Kirkwood, and Jeff Ward. Writers, executive producers, and showrunners are Matt Owens and Steven Maeda.

Tomorrow Studios, a partnership between producer Marty Adelstein (Prison Break, Teen Wolf) and ITV Studios, is producing the live-action series. Matt Owens (Luke Cage, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) is the show's writer. Steven Maeda and Becky Clements are executive producers.
